Define the Failure Before Testing

  • Internal lifting: bubbles or loose zones appear within the design.
  • Shedding: small pieces detach during use or washing.
  • Fading: color changes without obvious physical separation.

Prepare Comparable Samples

Use the same artwork, garment lot, film lot, ink, powder, curing process, and press. Include a solid area, fine details, corners, and a larger shape. Mark each sample with an ID that connects it to the production record. When comparing a changed variable, keep every other setting fixed.

Record the Initial Condition

Before washing, photograph the transfer under consistent light. Inspect edges, surface, hand feel, stretch response, and any visible voids. A sample that is already lifting should not be reported as a wash failure; it is a pre-wash process failure.
